Suspect Wanted For Fatal Stabbing In Maryland Identified, Arrested In Virginia: Police

A 45-year-old found stabbed to death in Montgomery County is being remembered as "a vibrant man, who made everyone laugh until tears came out of our eyes (who) was the greatest story teller who could make you feel fear, happiness, and utter amazement."

Silver Spring resident Hesler Saul Sanchez Cruz was found suffering from fatal stab wounds on Sunday morning following an alleged attack by Emilio Ortiz Alba, 30, who has been charged with his murder.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 13, officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police in the area of University Boulevard and Fern Street noticed a truck on the median of University Boulevard, where they found Sanchez Cruz suffering from a stab wound.

First responders were called to the area, where Sanchez Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His death was later ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Ortiz Alba was later identified as a suspect.

On Sunday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Ortiz Alba, charging him with first-degree murder. On Monday, Ortiz Alba was arrested in Virginia, where he is being held pending his extradition back to Montgomery County.
